Introducing the FoodCycler Municipal Pilot Program
The Township of Schreiber is excited to launch the FoodCycler Municipal Pilot Program, an innovative initiative aimed at reducing food waste and extending the life of our local landfill. Food waste makes up a significant portion of household garbage, taking up valuable space and contributing to greenhouse gas emissions when sent to landfill.
Through this pilot program, residents will have the opportunity to use a FoodCycler™, a compact, electric food waste recycler that significantly reduces food waste volume. The FoodCycler™ dries and grinds food scraps into a stable, nutrient-dense soil amendment that can be mixed into soil to enhance its health and fertility.
By diverting food waste from landfill, we can reduce waste volume, lower our environmental impact, and promote sustainable waste management practices in our community.
This program is a step toward a greener future for Schreiber, and we invite residents to take part in this exciting waste-reduction initiative!
What is a FoodCycler?
The FoodCycler™ is a compact, electric appliance that quickly and efficiently processes food waste into a dry, nutrient-rich material. Unlike traditional composting, the FoodCycler™ requires no worms, ventilation, or extensive maintenance—just plug it in, add your food scraps, and let it do the work!

What’s Involved?
✔ Use Your FoodCycler™ Regularly – Participants will commit to using the FoodCycler™ for 12 weeks, processing food scraps into nutrient-rich material that can be added to soil or disposed of as dry waste.
✔ Track Your Usage – Throughout the program, you’ll be asked to complete a few short surveys to share your experience, feedback, and estimated waste reduction. This data will help determine the long-term benefits of the program for our community.
