The Township of Schreiber and the Township of Terrace Bay are committed to providing accessible transportation for senior citizens as well as citizens with temporary or permanent disabilities through the Terrace Bay Handi-Transit Service.
The Superior Seniors Club, in partnership with the Township of Terrace Bay, provides transportation to Thunder Bay and Marathon for medical/health reasons, including dental, physiotherapy, optometry and more. This program is open to all residents of Terrace Bay, Schreiber, Jackfish, Rossport and Pays Plat.

The Schreiber-Terrace Bay Handi-Transit Service is owned by the Townships of Schreiber and Terrace Bay. The service is operated by the The McCauland Hospital on behalf of the Townships.
The Service is NOT jut for Medical appointments. You can book the Handi-Transit van for ANY trip within or between Terrace and Schreiber whether it be shopping, attending a meeting or ust visiting!
Eligibility: All residents of Schreiber and Terrace Bay who are 55 and over OR who are temporarily or permanently disabled.
How to Book:
To book the Handi-Transit van please call the McCausland Hospital Administration at (807) 825-3273, Ext. 0. Please call at least 24 hours in advance to book the van.

- $5.00 between communities
- $5.00 companion (each way)
- Free for registered caregivers.

The program is open to all residents of Terrace Bay, Schreiber, Jackfish, Rossport and Pays Plat!
They will come pick you up at your residence, deliver you on time to your appointment and return you home. If it is more than a day trip, they will take you to your overnight accommodation and return on the requested day to bring you home (no extra charge).
If you qualify and are eligible for the Northern Health Travel Grant then the cost for transportation can be reimbursed later through the Province of Ontario.
How to Book:
You must make reservations 24 hours in advance, it is first come, first serve. You can book an appointment by contacting the Terrace Bay Senior’s Centre:
- During the weekdays, please call (807) 825-3315, Ext: 244 with office hours from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm and 1:00 to 3:00 pm; if the office is closed please leave a message
- On weekends and holidays, please call (807) 825-3558 and leave a message

Please note that the vehicle is not medically equipped and thus passengers must be mobile with minimal assistance.
