CP Holiday Train — Coming To Schreiber December 1, 2017

The CP Holiday Train will be making its annual stop in Schreiber on December 1, 2017! The Train is set to arrive in Schreiber at 2:45 pm will be stopped alongside Cenotaph Park beside the North Shore Harvest Food Cupboard until 3:30 pm! Performers include Colin James and Emma-Lee!

"The Holiday Train program is all about local food banks and food shelves and the critical role they play in our communities," said Keith Creel, CP's President and Chief Executive Officer. "People come for the beautifully-lit train and stay for the incredible show – all in the name of community. The holiday season is the best time of the year, and we look forward to bringing together thousands of Canadians and Americans this season for this incredibly important cause and a great time". The CP Holiday Train program launched in 1999 and has since raised more than C$13 million and four million pounds of food for communities along CP's routes in Canada and the United States The 2017 edition of the Holiday Train also concludes CP's Canada 150 celebrations and the Canadian train will feature the Spirit of Tomorrow car, which was part of the Canada 150 Train this past summer.

The Township of Schreiber encourages all community residents to bring non-parishable donations to the CP Holiday Train in Schreiber in support of the North Shore Harvest Food Cupboard!

The Council of the Township of Schreiber is pleased to announce that October 16 - 22, 2017 is hereby proclaimed Waste Reduction Week in the Township of Schreiber!

As a municipality, we are commited to reducing our waste, conserving resources and educating our community about sustainable living. We recognize the generation of solid waste and the needless waste of resources as global problems and endeavour to take the lead in our community towards environmental sustainability!

Councillor Gustav “Bob” Krause Receives Long-Standing Service Award

The Township of Schreiber would like to congradulate Councillor Gustav "Bob" Krause in receiving the 25 years Long-Standing Service Award  on behalf of the Government of Ontario in recognition of outstanding work in helping to build strong communities in Ontario as presented by the Honourable Bill Mauro, MPP (Thunder Bay—Atikokan), Minister of Municipal Affairs.

Northern Devleopment And Mines’ Visit Schreiber

On August 3, 2017 Mayor Mark Figliomeni met with David de Launay, Deputy Minister of Northern Development and Mines and John Guerard, Director, Regional Economic Development, Northern Development and Mines who stopped by for a community update and a quick tour of the spectacular Schreiber Beach.

Notice of Commencement: Slate Island Coast Guard Station

Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) is preparing to undertake construction activities at the Slate Island Coast Guard Station, Patterson Island, Lake Superior , ON. The work is tentatively scheduled to commence August 4, 2017 and is anticipated to be completed by early October.
