Pigeons in the Schreiber Community

Be on the lookout Schreiber Residents, as we are looking to reduce the impact of pigeons in the community and would like your help ūüėĀ
The Township of Schreiber is asking residents to observe possible roosting locations on their property.
Pigeons are attracted to flat spaces high up off the ground, away from predators. When they find a flat space with an opening, they can set up a colony for nesting, which can accumulate waste and increase their population. If there are no flat surfaces to build their nests, the pigeons will move on to find another place. It is the responsibility of property owners to prevent and remove any current roosting locations.
Residents can also lessen the attraction of unwanted pigeons by looking at smaller free swinging feeders with a slanted roof or ones with small perches, perch-less bowl style feeders or feeders enclosed in wire cages as opposed to the style that can be attached to a pole or tree.
