Confederation College Job Connect
Job Connect is designed for individuals who need help in finding employment. Their services are free and available to everyone. If you are having difficulty finding or keeping fulltime employment, are a resident of Ontario and eligible to work in Canada, are currently not attending school full time, or are not sure what type of work you would like to do, Confederation College Job Connect may be able to help you. Their office is located in Marathon, but a representative travels to the Schreiber/Terrace Bay area weekly. For more information or to set up an appointment, please call them at 229-2037 or 229-7398.
Handi Transit
The Townships of Schreiber and Terrace Bay has Handi-Transit service available to anyone 55 or older or disabled persons, either permanently or temporarily. This service may be used for appointments, shopping trips, visiting friends, going to the seniors' clubs, community events, etc. The intention of the service is to help people to get out and get active. The Handi-Transit will come right to your door, take you where you want to go, leave you for a certain time if you wish, and return you to your home. Please note that you need to book the service 24 hours in advance. To do this, please call the McCausland Hospital at 825-3273. The fare for use of the Handi-Transit for in town travel is $2.00 each way and out of town travel (Terrace Bay to Schreiber travel and/or Schreiber to Terrace Bay travel) is $4.00 each way. This fare will be reviewed in January 2010.

Ontario Works (OW)
Ontario Works is run through the Thunder Bay District Social Services Administrative Board. They assist participants in achieving independence from the social assistance system through income support, employment supports, community participation, employment placement, learning earning and parenting, and addictions services initiative.

Emergency Assistance
Emergency Assistance is to assist an applicant in a crisis or emergency situation. EA cannot be provided more than once in a six month period and cannot be issued for a period of more than 16 days.

Energy Emergency Fund (EEF)
These funds help low-income Ontarians, including social assistance recipients, facing energy related emergencies. The EEF is for energy arrears, security deposits and reconnection costs.

Provincial Rent Bank Program
This program provides funding for rent arrears. The rent bank is for people in danger of losing their accommodations because they are behind in rent.

Residential Rehabilitation Assistance Program (RRAP)
RRAP for homeowners provides funding to low-income persons who own and occupy substandard housing so that they can repair the housing to ensure that it meets the minimum federal health & safety standards.

Kids' Corral Child Care Centre is a non-profit centre which has been operating since September, 2003. The centre provides care for children between the ages of 18 months and 11 years of age.
