Squash Growing Contest and Indoor House Plant Sale and Exchange
Schreiber Public Library is again hosting the squash growing contest for Zucchini, Pumpkins and Unusual Vegetables. If you would like to enter one of these categories, please come to the Library on Wednesday, September 22, 2010 from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Refreshments will be provided and prizes will be given to the larges and most unusual vegetables for both adult and children categories. At the same time, there will be an indoor plant sale or exchange. Come in to drop off your plant or exchange for a different one. For more information, please call the Library at 824-2477.
Aerobics
The first fall session of Aerobics will be starting on September 14th! Everyone is welcomed to the Schreiber Recreation Centre on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 7:30-8:30 pm. Cost is $35.00 + HST for twice a week and $17.50 + HST for once a week. Registration is being accepted at the Municipal Complex. Deadline to register is September 10, 2010. Registrations after the deadline are subject to a $5.00 late fee.
Tae Ji
Please note that due to instructor availablility, Tae Ji will not be starting this fall until October 14th. More information will be available soon.
Walk a Block with your Buddy
Schreiber Parks and Recreation Committee is sponsoring this program again. This program is designed to promote walking in our community. Each 25 KM walked entitles you to an entry for a participation prize awarded September 30th. Also each person who walks 500 KM between May 1st and September 30th will receive a t-shirt. Register at the Recreation Office by calling 824-2711 ext. 226 anytime between May 1st and September 30th. Pick up a map outlining the distance of various blocks within Schreiber and phone your Buddy to get out walking!
Recreational Programs
The Township of Schreiber will be having various recreational programs at the Municipal Complex gym from September to May. These include Badminton, Volleyball and possibly others. For more information about our programs or if you have an idea for programs to be run, please call Michele at 824-2711 ext. 226.
Boxing
Hollywood Filanes Boxing Gym offers boxing on Monday and Wednesday evenings From September to May. Come out for a fun way to get your exercise. Boxing promotes endurance, stamina, weight loss, toning and flexability. Youth (ages 8-13) start at 6:00 pm and adults (14+) start at 7:15 pm. Cost is $99.00 for a 12 week session. We are very fortunate to have two minor hockey associations - Schreiber Minor Hockey Association and Fallen Rock Minor Hockey Association. Both associations are members of Hockey Northwest Ontario.

Schreiber/Terrace Bay Figure Skating Club
The figure skating club is a joint club between Schreiber and Terrace Bay, and members of Skate Canada. The club offers various programs from CanSkate(learn to skate) to STARSkate programs.
